Two friends share the same special Disney wish.
retinoblastoma | I wish to meet Minnie Mouse at Disneyland® Resort
Four-year-old Violet still talks about her 2013 visit to Disneyland® Resort like it was yesterday. She can hardly contain herself as she describes giving nose kisses to Mickey, taking a ride on It’s A Small World and being called a Princess by all of her favorite characters. Violet told her whole story in a special video message to her best friend Juni, whose wish to meet Minnie Mouse was granted this year.
Violet met Juni while both were undergoing treatment for retinoblastoma, a rare form of cancer. The two friends had an instant bond, and when Violet learned that Juni was about to go meet Minnie, she just had to record a bon voyage message. Now that both girls’ Disney wishes came true, they can look forward to years of sharing their memories together.
In 2014, Disney helped grant more than 7,000 wishes for kids like Violet and Juni, creating timeless bonds and memories for their families. The astonishing support Make-A-Wish® receives from Disney dates back to the first-ever official wish, nearly 35 years ago. Disney has helped grant more than 95,000 wishes globally to date and in conjunction with Make-A-Wish is currently engaged in one of every two wishes we grant.
In addition to supporting Disney theme park, cruise, entertainment, sports and shopping wishes, Disney also provides annual cash grants and encourages Disney VoluntEARS to contribute their time and talents to furthering our mission.
